Having commissioned research among IMHX visitors, the show's organisers are delighted that the event is overwhelmingly viewed as the place to see innovative products and services, and that a large majority of visitors are planning to purchase new handling equipment or logistics services either next year or in 2012.
Asked whether they and/or their colleagues planned to attend IMHX 2010, over 80% of respondents answered positively - almost 58% said that they would definitely be attending, with a further 23% stating they were likely to attend. An impressive two-thirds of respondents agreed that IMHX is the best place to find new suppliers of logistics and materials handling equipment.
Reassuringly for the UK's economic recovery, a large majority (71%) said that they had plans to purchase new logistics or materials handling equipment in either 2011 or 2012. A pleasing 92% of those that answered this question went on to state that their visit to IMHX would influence their buying decision, with over a quarter saying that their visit would have a 'great influence' on their decision of which make and model of equipment to purchase.
Some 33% of those intending to purchase new equipment indicated that this was in order to replace existing equipment, 29% said it was to improve their existing handling processes and 25% stated it was to expand their current capacity.
Visitors ready to spend
Almost 65% of respondents said that they expected to spend up to £250,000 on new logistics and materials handling equipment in 2011, with nearly 15% expecting to spend in excess of £1 million. Over 47% of respondents planning to purchase equipment in 2011 expected to have a larger logistics and materials handling budget than in 2010, with a further 40% expecting to have about the same budget in 2011 as they have had this year.
Commenting on the survey results, Rob Fisher, Event Director for IMHX, says, "We are very proud of the results of this research. The figures clearly show that IMHX is held in high esteem within the industry as the place to see everything that's new in materials handling. It's also great news for our exhibitors to hear that visitors are coming here with specific equipment requirements and the budgets in place to make purchases."
