and other awkward loads.
Load clash can occur at full lift height with the hoist unit chain box when handling big bags or larger awkwardly shaped loads. However, this potentially hazardous development can be avoided with the purpose designed hoists available from J D Neuhaus Ltd.
Typical applications would be in the pharmaceutical and plastics industries or wherever big bags are used to handle raw materials or finished products throughout the processing and general engineering markets.
Hoists with single or twin load-hooks can be provided, each covering either 1000 or 2000kg lifting capacities with both designs also providing varying degrees of collision clearance. In common with other Neuhaus handling equipment, these hoists are air powered, making them suitable for use in potentially explosive conditions and atmospheres. Their compact, modern design results in a highly reduced construction height, with provision to mounting on various I beam profiles as well as hook distance adjustment. A three metre lift height is provided as standard with maximum lift heights up to 67 metres also possible (depending upon model).
The single hook hoists can be supplied with clearance dimensions between the hook centreline and the chain box cover ranging from 435 to 1100mm. This accommodates a wide range of big bag sizes as well as other bulky or fabricated loads where physical shape or size is a limiting handling factor rather than weight.
The twin load-hook hoists provide synchronised lifting facilities ensuring both safe and effective handling of larger loads, possibly involving more complex geometry, together with longer loads. Models can be supplied with dimensions between load-hook centres varying from 260 to 1300mm.
The use of standardised well proven JDN components has led to economy and reliability, with 100% duty ratings. Maintenance-free operation is achieved with the elimination of wear and downtime resulting from the use of fewer components and lubrication-free air motors. A six bar compressed air supply is required for operation with full load lift/lower speeds of 4 and 10 metres/min respectively. For ATEX applications, hoists are available for the following explosion protection applications:
