Students learning bricklaying, plastering, painting, carpentry and other construction trades at City College Birmingham's new six million pound North West Skills Academy in Ladywood are getting a lift from a new ROBUR SBC2510 counterbalance truck from Stanley Handling.
Plant engineers designing the workshops for the new academy needed a pedestrian truck with a small footprint, the lowest possible mast height and precise speed controls for moving materials through low doorways and in enclosed spaces.
The ROBUR truck offered a lowered mast height of just 1780mm and a highly manoeuvrable 970mm chassis. Powered lift and drive, electronic speed control, electromagnetic braking and an operator safety button all fitted the specification perfectly. Importantly, the college can now use a fork lift truck to collect materials and drop them by an outside door from where they can be moved on more easily and safely around the training areas.
