Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) introduce a new fuel- electric Genie® Z™-boom lift at Bauma
In response to growing worldwide demand for high performance, low emissions aerial work platforms, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) introduced a new fuel- electric Genie® Z™-boom lift at Bauma. Authorized Genie distributor Jøma Lift Teknik was one of the first to take an order from its customer Lift & Loft ApS based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The new articulating Genie Z-60/37 FE boom is a cost-efficient solution designed to provide high rental returns for general construction and industrial applications. It offers operators two machines in one package for indoor and outdoor applications, while providing lower cost of operation and cleaner performance. Driven by high-efficiency AC motors, this new fuel-efficient model combines the benefits of advanced diesel power, four-wheel drive performance and the cleaner, quieter efficiency of compact, low-weight electric-powered booms.
Mr. Mads Garder Laursen, owner of Lift & Loft ApS, commented: “We are always looking to provide our customers with new solutions. This particular machine provides new possibilities for our customers in Copenhagen where we have a no noise policy until 6.00 am. The Genie Z-60/37 FE boom allows my customers to get the job done during the night when no one is around thanks to its ‘full electric’ mode and proceed to perform a full day’s work on a single charge.” Mr. Laursen continues: “The versatility of the machine means that we will be able to rent it out for all sorts of different applications and requirements. Ninety percent of my rental customers are based in Copenhagen where space is often tight and reduced noise and emissions levels are necessary. The ‘Hybrid’ mode of the Genie Z-60/37 FE boom offers an excellent solution for jobsite conditions that demand high performance and productivity.”
Whether running in full electric mode, or fuel electric mode, the hybrid system of the Genie Z-60/37 FE boom reduces operating costs over the duration of a job, to reduce cost of ownership over the life of the machine. Instead of the typical 37 kW diesel power plant found in most 20 m booms, the fuel-efficient hybrid system of this particular model uses a Stage IIIB 18.5 kW engine offering the benefits of longer runtimes on a single tank of diesel and less fuel consumption. Meeting today’s stringent European emission requirements, without the use of complex or costly after treatment solutions, this smaller power plant makes for a simpler and more cost-effective engine to maintain. Thanks to its battery pack, which supplements power requirements for much of the machine’s operation, the engine of the Genie Z-60/37 FE boom runs less, which extends service intervals to save time and reduce costs.
The Genie Z-60/37 FE boom adds to an ever developing fleet for Lift & Loft ApS who started up two years ago with only a second-hand scissor lift and has now grown to a fleet of 30 machines - including two Genie GTH™-2506 compact telehandlers.
“We have been doing business with Jøma Lift for the last two years and acquired several Genie machines,” says Laursen. “Their ease of operation and the high level of service that came with them have made the investment easier. I love the fact that we are able to place parts orders via Joma Lift by 2.00 pm and have them delivered the next day. This implies reduced down time for our customers, which as a rental company is very important for our business.”
