Biffa Group Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Wakelin as
Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Mr. Wakelin is currently the Chief Executive of Greenstar, which has been recently acquired by Biffa. The intention is to now merge the two companies. Mr. Wakelin has a long and successful track record in the waste services industry, having served as Managing Director of UK Waste prior to founding Greenstar in 2001.
Mr. Wakelin stated:
"I am delighted that the Board has offered me this opportunity to lead the combined Greenstar and Biffa business.
We undoubtedly have the best platform for growth in the UK waste industry and I look forward to working with the rest of the Biffa team to realise the full potential of this business."
Mark E. Keough, who is a Director of Montagu Private Equity Associates LLP, and currently the Interim CEO of Biffa, will continue to work with Ian and the rest of the senior management team of Biffa as an advisor, to develop a new plan for the combined businesses.
