BW Refrigerated Couriers are specialist food product couriers, focusing solely on the transportation of chilled and frozen goods. Based in the South West, the long established courier has now started to switch all its panel van fleet over to Mercedes Sprinter vans each specified 100% with Somers ATP certified refrigerated panel van conversions.
Through the company's vehicle replacement programme, BW has recently added a further six medium wheelbase Mercedes Sprinter vans and one long wheelbase Sprinter van to its 20 strong panel van fleet, and all are Somers refrigerated van conversions featuring GAH Super Rapier SR351F low temperature refrigeration systems.
The twin compartment bodies within the Sprinter vans have been specified with a front frozen compartment that operates to -25° C whereas the rear chilled compartment can operate down to 0° C, with the bodies designed to handle up to 20 door openings per eight hour distribution cycle.
According to David Hake, Managing Director, BW Refrigerated Couriers Ltd, "From experience we know that, as part of the Paneltex Group, the Somers refrigerated conversions can handle our specific courier requirements, with the proven build quality easily lasting the planned four-year working life of our panel van fleet."
All the new Mercedes Sprinters, with Somers refrigerated conversions, are working on regular courier contracts predominantly in the Midlands, South Wales, London and across the South of England. The vehicles are delivering and collecting samples and pallets on behalf of food producers, manufacturers, processors and wholesalers, as well as more diverse operations such as food samples for supermarket headquarters, photographic and television studios.
"Over the years we have worked closely with BW Refrigerated Couriers to ensure that they receive a top-quality specification for their intense courier operation. This has now become a regular contract for us as BW updates its fleet on a continuous basis," said Chris Berridge, managing director, Paneltex Ltd, owners of Somers Refrigeration.
