Finlay Central is helping DP Williams (Holdings) build up its fleet at its Wrexham site, with the delivery of four Terex Finlay machines within the last 12 months.
The company has recently introduced a Terex Finlay 694+, which joins two 683s and a 390 purchased within the last year to support a diverse range of operations on its Ballswood Quarry, based in Llay.
The company was founded in 1947 by Desmond Peter Williams and is now run by his son Darrell.
Ballswood Quarry – one of two quarries that the company operate in the area – produces a range of aggregates for the construction industry, as well as decorative aggregates for the domestic and commercial marketplaces.
The Terex Finlay plant has been introduced by Finlay Central, part of the Finlay Group of companies, who have been working with DP Williams for the last 20 years.
All machines are delivering high volumes of product across the business.
The newest machine to the fleet, the Terex Finlay 694+, is offering a high production solution to feed naturally rounded gravel produced at the quarry, with a 20x5 triple deck allowing large throughput and effective clean screening.
The tracked mobile inclined screen features a high capacity belt feed hopper, with ‘best in class’ production levels, set up time and ease of operation.
As well as the 694+, DP Williams (Holdings) has opted for two Terex Finlay 683s, including one with a double deck vibrating grid.
The machine featuring the double deck grid feeds a sized product into an on-site washing plant, producing naturally rounded gravel at sizes of 10mm, 20mm and 40mm.
This in-demand product is used for high-specification concrete plant and as a decorative aggregate.
The other 683 produces finished sized aggregate, at a rate of up to 200 tonnes per hour from an on-site static cone crusher.
The 683 is renowned for its quality, performance and productivity and combines scalping, screening and stockpiling into one self-contained unit.
Its rugged design, featuring a 3.65m x 1.5m (12’ x 5’) screen, handles materials such as sand and gravel, as well as limestone, crushed stone, coal, topsoil and demolition waste.
Standard features include remote tipping reject grid, the hydraulic screen tensioning of bottom deck mesh and three on-board hydraulic folding.
Options include a double deck vibrating grid, as specified for one of DP William’s models.
Finally, the Terex Finlay 390 is producing dry screened sand at 3mm, which is sold across the UK. It is fitted with Piano Wires, which screens sand more effectively due to the increased angle of the screenbox.
The 390 Hydrascreen is a high performance portable screening plant developed to fulfill the demands of high production aggregate producers. It features a hydraulic variable angle adjustment on the screenbox and a high capacity belt feed hopper.
Darrell Williams said: “Terex Finlay produce sound, well-engineered and robust machines.
“We’ve been working with Finlay Central to take delivery of the plant for many years and their finance packages make the purchase of machinery cost-effective.
“They also have an excellent hire fleet, which provides a good back-up service if we are short of a machine.”
Neil Partington, of Finlay Central, helped the company specify the plant. He said: “The machines are proving their worth on site, ensuring DP Williams (Holdings) benefit from a consistent sized product, delivered at a high volume throughput.”
