Greetings cards manufacturer Clinton Cards go green with Severnside Recycling

The Clinton Cards Group is making further important progress towards sustainability by appointing Severnside Recycling to implement a recycling and waste management process. Severnside will enable the Clinton Cards Group to largely eradicate landfill, and achieve greater closed loop recycling.

As Severnside is a waste management company with a 'no-landfill' ethos, its approach to waste management uses landfill only as the very last resort. As a result, the company is delivering sustainable solutions for general waste streams such as plastics, cardboard and glass. With over 90 per cent of Clinton's waste being cardboard, Severnside will help the retailer see its own waste recycled into new card and paper-based products.

Paul Salador, Group Finance Director of Clinton Cards said: "We're committed to reducing our environmental impact and our relationship with Severnside means that not only will we be diverting waste from landfill, we're also going further as it will be used to create new cards and other paper products. This project forms part of our broader ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility. Severnside's recycling audit has also shown that the waste management practice will generate significant financial savings both in the short and long term as landfill tax continues to escalate until 2014."

Severnside's National Sales Manager, Carwyn Gurmin, said: "We are delighted to have won the contract with Clinton Cards, allowing us to introduce a recycling and waste management system that puts waste to positive use rather that sitting in a hole in the ground. The partnership will help us achieve our shared goal of sustainability."
