Industry Heavyweights back RWM with early stand bookings

Major names including Orange/Voice Mobile, Mercedes, WRAP, Nationwide Recycling and Pellenc have come out in force to support the recycling industry with an early commitment to exhibit at this year's Recycling & Waste Management Exhibition which takes place at the Birmingham NEC from 15 to 17 September 2009.

Despite the economic downturn, over 80 per cent of stand space has already been sold. Exhibitors will include companies and organisations operating in all parts of the supply chain from suppliers of bins, recyclers of a wide range of materials including paper and plastics to environmental consultants and waste management companies.

New to the outdoor area is global full liner company Case Construction which has developed its product portfolio and now offers a wide range of excavators and wheel loaders for recycling and material handling. RWM 09 will see the launch of its new 21 and 24 tonne excavators and also the 821EXRecycler. Scott Freeman, business manager for Case UK and Ireland said: "We've come to RWM in the past as visitors, so we know that it attracts the people we want to reach in the recycling and waste handling trade."

Trade associations and recycling organisations exhibiting at RWM include WRAP, Recoup, ESA and Alupro (the not for profit industry organisation which promotes the collection of aluminium packaging through local authority kerbside and bring systems as well as the private sector).

Reflecting the fact that there are still employment opportunities within the recycling sector, Smart Solutions Recruitment has also recently booked a stand. The new company was set up just 14 months ago by industry employee, Nathan Bowles, who saw a gap in the market for a bespoke recruitment service. John Archer, recycling and facilities manager, Smart Solutions Recruitment explains: "Business is good for us at the moment. We are working with the likes of Biffa, Greenstar and Pure as well as a number of smaller regional companies who are all finding that flexibility of staff is key in the current economic climate. At RWM our team will be hoping to meet with contractors, councils and companies who manufacture recycling equipment. We are also keen to speak with senior managers within the industry who would be interested in managing some of our major accounts."

SSI Schaefer will be exhibiting its full range of refuse and recycling containers and introducing the new style "Ergo" lids, which are designed to be more ergonomically efficient and to give more space for printed recycling information. Peter Welby-Everard, sales co-ordination manager, SSI Schaefer Ltd said: "SSI Schaefer will be exhibiting at the RWM Exhibition for the fifth year running because we will meet senior decision makers in the waste management industry. We are looking forward to sharing the company's vision for efficient and highly cost-effective waste management with visitors at this year's show."
