COMPLETES JCB HAT-TRICK FOR 2007. JCB has received its third Queen's Award of the year after HM Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, James Hawley, made the presentation to JCB Compact Products.
The Cheadle-based JCB business unit received the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade section for its 65 per cent increase in overseas sales between 2004 and 2006. The Lord Lieutenant toured the Leek Road factory before making the presentation to JCB Managing Director and CEO John Patterson, watched by JCB Compact Products employees.
John Patterson said: "This is a tremendous achievement, especially when you consider that this factory opened in 1995 with a maximum production capacity of 10,000 machines. This year alone we will produce close on 14,000 machines on this site. As we celebrate today's achievement we look forward to even more success in the future."
Mr Hawley said: "We are very proud to have JCB in Staffordshire and are delighted that the company is so successful. There are fewer and fewer Queen's Awards for exports and that makes it more special that JCB Compact Products have won one this year."
