Leading European logistics and transport company Norbert Dentressangle has secured a major three-year contract renewal with Rettig ICC (Indoor Climate Comfort) worth up to £10 million in total.
Rettig is Europe's leading manufacturer of steel panel radiators; towel warmers and decorative radiators and is also a supplier of underfloor heating and controls for heating systems. In the UK its customers are the major heating merchants and the company's brands include Myson and Purmo. Rettig ICC is a subsidiary of the family owned Rettig Group Ltd, based in Helsinki, Finland.
Originally appointed in 2006, Norbert Dentressangle Transport Services provides a flexible transport solution from Rettig's UK Distribution Centre in Birtley, County Durham. The site carries nearly 2,500 stock lines and despatches around 2.4 million radiators, and a similar number of heating controls, a year to 1,200 delivery points.
This involves a combination of dedicated and shared user network services via a fleet of vehicles based at Birtley that make daytime deliveries to Scotland and the North of England. Then, during the night, the fleet trunks Rettig product into the Norbert Dentressangle network, which makes deliveries to merchants across the South of England the next day.
Norbert Dentressangle provides a dedicated contract manager and two Traffic Planners to manage the operation from Birtley. Rettig's customers can access supply chain information online and all proof of delivery paperwork is scanned into the Norbert Dentressangle SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) system, and can be viewed within 24-hours.
With on time deliveries consistently running at 99%, the transport operation, together with major production line investment and the introduction of a centralised supply chain function, has enabled Rettig to reduce its average stock level by 30%.
Commenting on the contract renewal, David Taylor, UK Operations and Supply Chain Director at Rettig, said: "Norbert Dentressangle Transport adds value to our business and the part-dedicated, part-network solution has made a significant contribution to our ongoing success in the UK.
"We have a flexible supply chain that can accommodate our daily requirements and enables us to provide our customers with an efficient, cost-effective delivery service."
