Jack Moody Ltd's recycling business has expanded its 16-strong fleet of JCB equipment with the addition of two new 456eHT Wastemaster wheeled loading shovels.
The new machines are used in the processing of green waste and inert materials and the handling of 100 per cent wood, 100 per cent recycled pellets and chips for distribution to a local Biomass-fuelled power station. The production of these natural, environmentally-friendly Biomass fuels is the latest of the company's sustainability-led innovations.
One of the new machines is operating at the Jack Moody Ltd's 55-acre headquarters in Cannock and the other at a satellite centre near Telford. They join eight more JCB 456 wheeled loading shovels, three JCB JS tracked excavators, one JCB 2CX and one 3CX backhoe loader, two Loadall telescopic handlers and a JCB Teletruk, which perform a vast range of handling and loading tasks on site.

Across its diverse business operation, Jack Moody Ltd recycles commercial and municipal organic materials as a cost effective alternative to landfill disposal. It currently processes up to 244,000 tonnes of inert material and over 90,000 tonnes of green waste per annum at its four sites. The green waste is processed to produce a 100% recycled, peat free compost, sold under the CARE Compost™ brand and is used extensively by Jack Moody Landscapes as well as sold through garden centres and local authority civic amenity sites.
Jack Moody Ltd is one of the largest composting operations in the UK and was the first compost manufacturer to be granted the BSI PAS 100 2005 standard by the Composting Association and has been designated as a 'best practice site' by government body WRAP.
One of the flagship models in the JCB range, the JCB 456eHT Wastemaster wheeled loading shovels have been tailor made for the rehandling environment, incorporating features such as light guards, lower door guards and fenders which all protect from potential physical impact damage. Underbelly guards protect transmission components from material contamination while specialist tyres ensure maximum protection against punctures in harsh waste rehandling applications.
Protection for the operator is ensured with the fitment of cab roof and screen guards. The positive pressure cab environments can be additionally filtered too, with finer filter elements reducing dust ingress and protecting against potentially hazardous working environments. Reversing alarms, reversing cameras, convex mirrors, rotating beacons and additional work lights also ensure bystander safety, especially important in this extremely busy application.
