Online retail giant Amazon has launched same-day drone deliveries in the US state of Arizona.
Customers with homes close to Amazon's Tolleson, Arizona warehouse can now select items delivered via drone.
This would be delivered in under an hour, according to an announcement by Amazon.
More than 50,000 products are available in West Valley Phoenix Metro Are for same-day drone delivery.
Amazon says the MK30, which went through an aerospace-grade certification process in collaboration with the FAA, flies twice as far as our previous drones, is about 50% quieter to the human ear, and is built to fly in rainy weather.
The MK30 was first used for deliveries in College Station, Texas, one of two regions where the firm first started testing drones.
Juan F. Rodriguez, mayor of Tolleson, said: "As Amazon embarks on the national expansion of its Amazon Drone Delivery Program, we're proud to have their innovative presence in our community.
"By bringing this service to new communities, they're not just delivering goods; they're delivering opportunities and economic growth for all.
“This kind of delivery is the future, and it’s exciting that it will be starting in the Phoenix Metro Area,” added Kate Gallego, mayor of Phoenix.
“The shift toward zero-emission package delivery will help us reduce local pollution and further cement our city as a hotbed for the innovative technology of tomorrow.”
