Next generation classifier to debut at BULKEX

British Rema Process Equipment will showcase their latest generation high-
efficiency air classification system for low volume powder production, product trials and lab/R&D work at BULKEX 2015.

Suitable for use in smaller working spaces due to its low operating noise, compact size and portability, the new Aerosplit 100 air classifier provides very sharp cuts in the range of 1 to 50 microns and is supplied as a complete integrated system with out-of-the-box ‘plug and play’ capability.

Like all forced-vortex classifiers in the British Rema range, the Aerosplit 100 optimises efficiency via an adjustable secondary air system which creates a dynamic cyclone. Material is fed at a constant rate into a 100mm high-speed (16,000 rpm) classifier wheel, with precise on-stream control of cut point being achieved by variations in rotor speed and airflow. The dynamic airflow then encourages rejected material to go back through the classifier wheel, ensuring any agglomerated material is separated before oversize material passes out of the cyclone.

Finally, fine material passes through the wheel into a secondary cyclone where it is collected with the air drawn through 4m2 of high-efficiency Mahle pleated cartridge filters. Use of this secondary cyclone system enables the unit to be quickly and efficiently cleaned down between different product runs.

For materials of a hazardous nature, the Aerosplit 100 can be fitted with an optional inert gas purging system and/or containment solution to ensure safe production when using reactive, explosive or toxic materials.

The Aerosplit 100 can also be easily converted to an opposed jet mill for particle size reduction, by replacing the lower classifier cyclone with a chamber fitted with jet nozzles. Change-over is simple and takes a matter of minutes.

Features new to this latest model include a user-friendly HMI touchscreen control, programmable to run recipe features, restrict access and provide maintenance alerts. It can also be constructed either in mild steel externally painted or with stainless steel contact parts.

Interest in the Aerosplit 100 is expected to be particularly strong from the chemicals, metal powders, ceramics and other industries where the cost-effective separation of smaller material volumes into tight particle size distributions is critical to success for processors and manufacturers.

The British Rema Aerosplit classifier range is made up of models for throughputs of between 1kg and 20 tonnes per hour and operating particle sizes of between 1 and 150 microns. Founded in 1927, British Rema was an early pioneer in the field of particle size reduction and control specialising in milling, micronising and classification.
