Norbert Dentressangle has launched its first pallet distribution platform in the province of La Rioja in Northern Spain, tapping into strong export growth in the Spanish SME sector.
Despite little sign of recovery in the Spanish economy, exports are forecast to grow by 4.1% this year - the biggest increase of any country in the EU.
Norbert Dentressangle's new 2,000 sq m facility is strategically located near Logroño, in the heart of La Rioja's largest industrial area. The region is increasingly becoming a hub for small and medium sized food and drink manufacturers, many of whom are seeking to develop their export activities. The La Rioja region has also been designated a priority zone in Spain's plans to make the country a major European distribution hub.
Drawing on Norbert Dentressangle's expertise in the food and drink sectors, the new site will offer full load and pallet distribution throughout Spain, as well as a full range of European export solutions, including access to Norbert Dentressangle's Red Europe pallet distribution network, which offers a daily service to 30 European countries.
Following its acquisition of Fiege's Iberian logistics activities earlier this year, the new site also further advances Norbert Dentressangle's position as one of Spain's leading logistics companies, with 69 sites, 450,000 sq m of warehousing space, 1,800 vehicles and 1,700 employees.
