Following the launch of its nationwide apprentice scheme earlier this year, Norbert Dentressangle’s UK Logistics business has recently welcomed its 100th apprentice.
Darren Currie was offered a position in the Customer Services team at Norbert Dentressangle’s Carlsberg operation in Northampton just 24 hours after submitting his CV, becoming the 100th recruit since the scheme was launched in March.
Darren joins the fast-growing group of apprentices spread across 34 Norbert Dentressangle logistics sites across the UK, getting the opportunity to earn while they learn and achieve an NVQ Level 2 qualification in either Storage & Warehousing, Traffic Office, Customer Services or Business Administration.
Norbert Dentressangle’s UK Transport and Distribution division also operates its own three-tier apprenticeship programme, culminating in an Advanced Apprenticeship Driving Goods Vehicle Level 3 qualification, with around 20 apprentices currently working towards this.
Across its UK businesses, Norbert Dentressangle continues to recruit apprentices at a number of sites with more than 70 positions currently up for grabs, and anticipates that this will be an ongoing requirement as the business continues to grow.
James Rowntree, an apprentice studying Business Adminstration on the Carlsberg operation has recommended the scheme to many of his friends, including Norbert Dentressangle Logistics’ 100th apprentice, Darren Currie. James says: “When I saw Norbert Dentressangle’s apprenticeship scheme advertised, it seemed like a great opportunity to work in a company where I could learn and develop. It’s been everything I wanted and more – I feel valued, trusted and respected and am really enjoying learning new things on a daily basis.”
Learning & Development Manager for Norbert Dentressangle’s UK logistics business, Chris Dolby – himself a former apprentice – says: “The response to the scheme has been overwhelmingly positive, both from the apprentices themselves and from the sites where they are employed.
“For many, we are confident that the scheme will represent the first step on the ladder to a highly successful career with Norbert Dentressangle, in line with our commitment to growing our own talent and helping all of our colleagues to develop to the very best of their potential.”
