Norbert Dentressangle has further cemented its position as one of the logistics industry's leading employers, picking up the Development of People trophy at the 2013 Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Awards.
Mark Simmons, HR Director and Chris Dolby, Learning & Development Manager for Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK Ltd received the trophy from Richard Newman, Sales & Marketing Director from award sponsors, de Poel, and CILT (UK) President, Jim Steer FCILT at a ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel on 24 October.
The CILT Awards are a way of identifying those organisations and individuals whose performance has been outstanding. The Development of People Award recognises a organisation in which education, training and development has demonstrably contributed to its prosperity and which has shown an innovative approach to staff development, supported by an overall commitment to people development.
Norbert Dentressangle adopts a 'cradle to grave' approach to training and development, which allows colleagues at all levels of the business to achieve their potential, in line with the company's 'You Grow, We grow' philosophy and commitment to filling 60% of vacancies through internal promotion. In 2012, around 3,100 colleagues undertook more than 90,000 hours of training.
In addition to the exponential growth of the business in recent years, the success of Norbert Dentressangle's approach is borne out in its excellent absence, retention and staff turnover figures, all of which are significantly lower than the sector and national averages.
Mark Simmons said: "We are fortunate to work in an organisation which genuinely places people at the heart of its business and which has continued to invest in training and development throughout the recession. We also have an extremely hard-working and passionate team who work tirelessly to deliver continuous innovation and improvement.
"Following our success in the Motor Transport Awards last year and the HR Distinction Awards earlier this year, this latest award represents our 'hattrick' and we are delighted that our achievements have been recognised in yet another extremely prestigious arena."
