Norbert Dentressangle and its partners received the Marianne d'Or Sustainable Development award for the implementation and management of the "Franprix entre en Seine" scheme.
The Marianne d'Or is an award given by the French government to local authorities and companies that show outstanding commitment to sustainable development. This year, the award was given in recognition of the multimodal transport scheme implemented and managed by Norbert Dentressangle for its customer, Franprix.
Since the end of August 2012, Norbert Dentressangle has been transporting food products along the River Seine and delivering them to around 100 Franprix outlets.
Every day, 450 pallets are delivered and 26 containers shipped 12 miles from the port of Bonneuil-sur-Marne to the Bourdonnais wharf in the centre of Paris (7th district).
In the long run, an optimally loaded barge will allow annual reductions of:
- 300,000 road miles,
- 3,874 trucks on the road,
- 37% of CO2 emissions.
