North East Farm reports powerhouse performance from Terex Finlay

A Terex Finlay 883+ Spaleck is proving its worth at a Newcastle upon Tyne based compost supplier.

GreenTech Services, Broomfield Farm - a sixth generation family business - has taken delivery of the high performance plant after other machines have struggled to deal with the fine material.

The Terex Finlay 883+ Spaleck delivers a powerhouse performance in mobile screening and separation technology.

At the heart of the screen is the two deck German designed and constructed high performance recycling waste screen with Flip-Flow-Screen media.

The unique stepped top deck design, combined with state of the art flip flow technology on the bottom deck, delivers outstanding processing capabilities and the flexibility to handle a range of applications under an ‘all in one’ mobile solution.

Darren Willey, of GreenTech Services, Broomfield Farm, said: “Our main aim is to supply a good quality product to the market and this machine lets us do that.

“Since we started GreenTech Services at Broomfield Farm around 11 years ago, the amount of green waste being brought to the site has increased dramatically, however with three splits off the plant we can screen all of our products at the same time with a tremendous level of output.”

“The heavy duty vibrating screen makes the plant almost blockage and maintenance-free, and enables us to process material to sizes as small as 30mm and 3mm down.”

Supplying BSI PAS 100 compost at 3mm down for the horticultural market, GreenTech Services, Broomfield Farm, uses the 30mm organic material on the farm land – reducing the need for synthetic fertiliser and at the same time improving soil condition.

The plant is also proving its versatility and serving a double duty by screening shredded wood to provide another valuable material stream. The 30mm clean chip size produced is being used in biomass boilers while the -3mm down to dust is being used for animal bedding.

Charlie Nairn, Managing Director of Finlay Plant Northern, who specified the plant said: “GreenTech Services at Broomfield Farm are supplying a hard-to-process product that would be virtually impossible for other machines to process.

“The advantage of the Terex Finlay 883+ Spaleck is that the double deck screen can work accurately to produce small sizes in lightweight, moisture high materials such as soil and sand.”

Mr Willey added: “It’s the first machine we’ve had from Finlay Plant Northern, the back-up is excellent and it’s done exactly what they said it would.”
