NOV Mono EZstripTM pump approved by South West Water

In a bid to improve efficiency and reduce downtime across the board, South West Water has approved the EZstripTM maintain in place progressing cavity pump from NOV Mono for use at their waste water treatment plants.

South West Water, which is part of the Pennon Group Plc, is responsible for maintaining and improving the region's environment and bathing waters, as well as making sure that its 1.6 million customers have reliable access to high quality drinking water and wastewater facilities.

Commenting on the recent decision, the South West Water approval team said: "After an extensive trial we approved the use of the Mono EZstripTM pump. Due to its simple construction and innovative PC pump design, we expect to see a significant reduction in downtime for rotor / stator replacement, which in turn, will save on both process time and labour costs.

"As well as dramatically reducing asset downtime and maintenance costs at SWW, the EZstrip pump will eliminate the difficulty, time and cost involved to de-rag a pump. Mono has provided and demonstrated an innovative solution which is backed by the integrity of the Mono brand."

The EZstripTM has been specifically designed to provide a quick and easy way to disassemble, de-rag and maintain a PC pump in-situ. Its innovative suction chamber has a two piece design that can be dismantled and rebuilt with a spanner and an Allen key.

On average, the EZstripTM can reduce the maintenance time needed to replace a rotor, stator, coupling rod and drive train by up to 95%. The average time to completely strip down a pump and replace the drive train elements can be one full day; the Mono EZstripTM reduces this to just a 30 minute job.

The EZstripTM pump can be installed into new plants or retrofitted into existing Mono Compact C installations. No electrical disconnection is required and suction and discharge pipes remain untouched. The model range has a capacity of up to 165m3/h and 12 bar pressure, and is available in either cast iron or stainless steel. A choice of rotor and stator materials are available, including WRAS compliant elastomers and a pre-assembled drive train, with two year warranty.
