Onward Holdings to showcase prime logistics facility at Foodex 2014

Food companies seeking a prime site for their logistics, including services such as de-containerisation, ‘pick and pack’ and pallet handling, should make a beeline for the Onward Holdings Ltd stand at Foodex 2014, where the company will be showcasing its portfolio of modern warehouse facilities.

Onward Holdings is promoting a modern, purpose built warehousing complex prominently located at Willowbridge Lane, Castleford, close to the major motorway networks, including the A1 and M1, via the M62 junction 31.

On offer is a choice of units for long and short-term leases, ranging from 30,000 to over 100,000 square feet, suitable for both durable cargo and ambient food storage. These 24/7 secure monitored premises are ideal for those seeking handling and picking services within almost equidistant reach of the economic hubs of Leeds or York and Manchester or Newcastle.

There is capacity for pallet racked and bulked storage space with two dock level loading doors and several ground level loading doors, including covered loading bays, to facilitate container handling of food related items, computerised order picking and various pallet handling solutions.

In addition to this superb facility, which is suitable for fast product turnaround and provides cross docking opportunities, Onward will also be giving information on two purpose built food distribution centres available at Langthwaite Business Park, South Kirkby, near Wakefield.

Both units are equipped with food clad coverings and special lighting to avoid contaminates and UV deterioration making them ideal for ambient storage.

Offering a combined food storage space of 212,500 square feet (122,800 and just under 90,000 square feet respectively) and a total of 14 loading docks, each unit is capable of accommodating, when racked, up to 20,000 standard food pallets.

Unit 16 is the bigger of the two units. It incorporates a host of key food handling features, which includes eight dock levellers and four surface loading doors, a 10,000 square-foot loading canopy. Unit 16a also has the benefit of a 1,000 KVA mains supply.

A further site feature is good estate security following a £1 million investment making the units suitable for both ordinary and high value cargo such as specialist food and drinks.

To round off Onward Holdings’ offering at Foodex (stand H368) are retail units at the popular Onyx Retail Park. This thriving development has reached another stage with the recent completion of Phase Two construction and holds a cross-section of planning consent including A1 (retail), A3 (food) and A5 (hot food to take away)

Despite more than doubling the retail space available at the Park from 7,500sqft to 17,500sqft, demand is as great as ever and only three of the seven newly-built units in Phase Two are still available, a testament to the success of the area’s regeneration into a popular shopping and eating destination which has already attracted blue chip high street names including Greggs the Baker, Domino’s Pizza and Subway.

Adjacent to 1,100 homes the Onyx Retail Park is also surrounded by industrial development and outdoor leisure facilities, giving rise to an impressive 18,000 passing vehicle movements per day on the A633, according to figures provided by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Onward Holdings director Neil Storey comments; "We are thrilled to be returning to FoodEx. Food and logistics professionals coming to our stand will be able to find out more about the exciting and cost-effective warehousing and retail units we have available in Yorkshire that can help transform their operations."

Site promotions are being handled by Andrew Miller Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield.
