Young children at Dove Bank School, Nailstone, Leicestershire, will have more to read this year after local transport and logistics group, Pall-Ex, donated a cheque for £1000 to the school to help develop their library.
Pall-Ex’s Director of Sales Melvyn Tyers presented the £1,000 cheque to Dove Bank’s Head Teacher Bob Owen. Mr Owen commented: “We really value the relationship we have been building with Pall-Ex and everyone at the school was delighted by this additional donation from the company and all the support we receive. The money will be put towards the expansion of our library, helping to purchase a wider selection of books and encourage the children with their reading. We thank everyone at Pall-Ex for their generous and continuing support.”
Pall-Ex is also encouraging their staff to become involved with the school. Jason McCarten, a member of the operations team at Pall-Ex, took part in ‘The Our City Programme’ teaching children about the running of a city, buildings and businesses. The children had the opportunity to take part in practical activities, including making model buildings to create their own city.
Pall-Ex Director of Sales, Melvyn Tyers, also took part in ‘The Our World Programme’, working with older children teaching them about the importance of transport and distribution to the economies of third world countries and the consequences for the working population.
Melvyn commented: “We at Pall-Ex take great pleasure in helping local organisations, especially working with the enthusiasm and enquiring minds of the children at Dove Bank.”
Pall-Ex is a long-term supporter of the school, which is less than 2 miles from the company’s headquarters at Victoria Road, Ellistown.
