South Yorkshire-based pallet management company Whirlowdale is making a significant investment in new vehicles and equipment to support the company’s recent expansion.
Over the coming months, Whirlowdale will take delivery of five articulated lorries, two trailers and 14 new forklift vehicles for use at its Northern, Midlands and Southern pallet repair and distribution centres.
Managing Director Andrew Pearce explains: “The fact that many producers are recognising the benefits of reconditioned pallets as a more cost-effective option has lead to an increase in customers at locations across the UK. The new fleet and equipment will support this business growth and enable us to provide the very best pallet management service available. The new forklift equipment will enable us to enhance warehousing and storage, giving us an even more effective pallet handling system.”
The vehicles will be liveried with Whirlowdale’s new corporate identity, raising the total number of lorries operating across the company to 10.
As part of its ongoing investment in its sites, Whirlowdale has recently acquired an extra 20,000 sq ft of land to develop its Northern site and dedicate even more space to the recycling of pallets on behalf of customers.
Managing Director Andrew Pearce said: “We have ambitious plans for all four of our sites over the coming months. With many customers now requiring that we manage their complete pallet supply, return and collections, we are finding huge opportunities for increasing efficiency on their behalf.”
Whirlowdale has a highly effective network of pallet distribution centres enabling a quick and efficient turnaround of pallets and ensuring high volumes are available from stock as required. Whirlowdale is one of the few UK pallet providers that can offer a comprehensive selection of stock as well as dedicated sales staff with a strong understanding of the industry and its requirements.
