Harris Transport is looking forward to a successful 2010 after winning a major new contract.
The Southampton-based company, which is a member of the UK's leading palletised distribution network Palletforce, has won a deal to become the preferred carrier for the Valvestock division of Wolseley UK, at Fareham.
Harris Transport will handle all deliveries of the company's industrial valves and other products, both domestically and throughout Europe.
"This is a great deal for Harris Transport," said Business Development Manager Chris Rollett.
"It shows how the company has continued to move forward and set new standards at what is a difficult time for the haulage and distribution industry.
"We are very much looking forward to 2010. We could complete more than 500 extra deliveries next year thanks to this deal, which is fantastic news for the company.
"We have built up a very good relationship with Valvestock over the years and this deal is reward for our continued high standards."
Tim Tempest, Warehouse and Transport Coordinator for Valvestock, said Harris Transport's competitive prices and reliable service helped them win the deal.
He said: "Price played a big part in the deal. We had a target to shave off some costs and Harris Transport was very understanding of that.
"I've been working with Harris Transport on other jobs for about three years and I've never had a problem. The staff in the office are very helpful and make life much easier."
