Palletways wins contract with Beauchamp Foods

The Palletways Group has strengthened its business after winning a new contract with Beauchamp Foods, manufacturer of some of the nation's favourite brands of long-life, continental bread.

The contract, awarded to Palletways Fulfilment, the firm's warehousing solutions operation, follows a successful trial period and will see Beauchamp Foods outsource its domestic warehousing and distribution function to Palletways Fulfilment.

Based at the logistics firm's national hub in Fradley Park, Palletways Fulfilment will use its 100,000 sqft facility to store, process orders, provide a pick/pack service, modify and re-work some ofthe manufacturer's popular brands, such as the Le Français range of baguettes, petit pains and ready-to-bake butter croissants.

The products will then be distributed nationally to a number of leading retail chains and wholesalers via Palletways' nationwide pallet delivery network.

Iain Fergus, managing director for Beauchamp Foodssaid: "As our products are perishable, we needed a logistics provider capable of handling a very fast turnover product with strict use-by-dates and Palletways Fulfilment provided the ideal solution.

"Not only do they handle receipt of the product from France, but having our stock located at the Palletways hub itself gives us the ability to action orders placed late in the day for next day delivery, which is a particular advantage when dealing with demand in the consumer market. Through the Palletways WEBSTOCK system, all stock movements remain completely visible to us and we are able to manage these remotely."

Garry Curtis, general manager at Palletways Fulfilment said: "We are thrilled to have been awarded a contract by Beauchamp Foods.

"We specialise in providing the total logistics solution covering collection, stock holding and delivery via our sophisticated delivery network. More than that, we are able to provide services tailored to the needs of our customers, allowing them to make savings, whilst still meeting the demands placed on their supply chains."

The Palletways network is made up of some 100 plus member companies, which are all independent transport firms with local knowledge and expertise to provide a range of express distribution services including next day, economy and timed delivery options.

By sharing resources all the members deliver small consignments of palletised goods to market faster and more cost effectively than traditional haulage methods.
