PHS Teacrate invests millions in RTP boost for retailers

A series of multi-million pound investments by a leading returnable
transit packaging (RTP) specialist is helping food and non-food
retailers survive the recession by providing cost-effective logistic
solutions and supply chain stability.

PHS Teacrate has defied the difficult, economic situation by investing
in its infrastructure, including a transport hub in Bristol serving the
South West, environmentally friendlier vehicles offering reduced haulage
costs and a new online presence for greater access to products. The
ambitious company’s modern national fleet now operates out of eight
depots nationwide giving fast and reliable delivery of plastic crates
and trays to anywhere in the country.

In addition, forward thinking PHS Teacrate has purchased the
manufacturing tooling from Rehrig Pacific UK Ltd to exclusively produce
its range of plastic crates and trays for the home and European markets.

Purchasing Rehrig manufacturing tooling will also help PHS Teacrate
penetrate new markets. As part of this strategy, the company is
launching a dedicated new website for suppliers, producers and retailers
of food and non-food items.

By making these significant investments, PHS Teacrate is offering
producers and retailers of any size reduced logistic costs by providing
a much greater choice of RTP from a single supplier, along with the
option of renting crates which saves on storage space and capital

The company already handles millions of trays and crates every year,
counting famous high street names among its client base. It also mounted
a major operation supporting companies involved in supplying the 2012
London Olympic Games, including a major contract caterer who needed a
constant stream of clean crates and trays to cope with the many
deliveries a day it had to make to keep the Games supplied with fresh

Its willingness to invest, thanks to the considerable financial
resources of the PHS Group, one of the UK’s leading workplace providers,
improves supply chain stability, while a reputation for fast and
reliable delivery, flexible rental terms and excellent customer service
has put it at the forefront of the industry, helping win contracts with
big name brands and for events like the Olympics.

PHS Teacrate’s National Sales Manager, Patrick Sheehy, said: "We are
committed to supporting the food and non-food markets with their RTP
requirements, where flexible, reliable and quick delivery of crates is
vital. This continued investment in our infrastructure is testament to
our determination to enhance the supply chain by providing greater access
and choice of products."

Proud of having its products manufactured in the UK, PHS Teacrate
supplies crates, trays, pallets and plastic containers in a variety of
dimensions including lidded trays, patisserie trays, produce boxes,
hygiene pallets and nestable bale arm crates that are compatible with
retailers’ existing trays.

It offers particularly cost-effective solutions for seasonal goods such
as for fresh produce and at peak periods because of its flexible rental
option. In addition PHS Teacrate can collect from retailers’ transit
depots and provides crate washing facilities, making it the complete
one-stop shop for RTP.

Parent company PHS Group is one of the UK’s leading workplace service
providers. It has grown from a family run firm in 1963 to become a
multi-divisional, multi-national company, servicing over 250,000
customers at over 300,000 locations. The Group employs more than 5,000
staff and has a wide network of over 100 regional service branches,
strategically located throughout the UK.

With the backing of PHS’s impressive financial resources behind it, the
continued investment PHS Teacrate is making has strengthened its
position as a leading player in the RTP market. It has enhanced security
of supply for crates and trays proving its commitment to becoming the
preferred RTP supplier of choice.
