Postponement of Intermodal 2009

IIR Exhibitions has regretfully announced that Intermodal 2009, the exhibition for the intermodal and container industry, due to take place in Valencia, Spain in November, has been postponed for this year.

The worldwide economic crisis and subsequent rapid decline in global trade has had a negative impact on container shipping lines whilst plummeting freight rates have hit trade in the container leasing market as well. Intermodal will run again in 2010 and IIR Exhibitions has begun the process to choose a suitable location for the event with an announcement expected shortly.

Nicky Mason Managing Director of IIR Exhibitions said: "We decided to postpone Intermodal at this earliest opportunity, for one year, in recognition of the difficult trading environment. We are of course extremely disappointed and would like to thank the exhibitors and visitors for their support. We are now fully focused on making the show next year a real success."
