PPS grow turnover to £6m with help of £1.8m investment

Returnable transit packaging company PPS have turned a £1.8 million investment in technology and equipment to boost its turnover to £6 million over the course of last year.

The acquisition of plastic container supplier Alison Handling can be attributed to some of the company’s impressive growth.

PPS, based in Marchington, East Staffordshire, provides returnable transit packaging solutions for the automotive, food and retail industries.
Services include supply, collection, management, repair and washing of all types of returnable packaging, such as plastic crates, containers and pallets.

PPS Managing Director Joanne Moss said:
“We provide an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use packaging. Returnable transit packaging also helps to save our customers money and time because we offer the full service.
“We want to be able to provide every service and solution that our customers require, we’re very responsive to their needs and we’ve never let a customer down.”

Joanne added:
“We moved to our base in Marchington in June 2014 because we needed larger premises. When we moved in, we had the space to expand because it was always our intention to grow.
“When we moved here it was too big for us but we had a five-year growth plan so we thought it would be suitable.
“But now we have grown at such a rate that we are expanding within just two years.”

The company boasts a workforce of around 100 staff and operates 24/7 363 days a year and is already planning to build on its success. PPS are pushing a further £400,000 investment into new equipment and implementing staff development schemes.

This news comes off the back of the company securing major new contracts to work with two of the largest food companies in the United Kingdom.

Joanne commented:
“We have made a significant investment over the past 12 months in pallets, crates and new washing equipment because we need to be ready for anything.
“The main industry that we deal with is the food industry, which is very fast-moving, so we always need to be prepared and ready to respond.”
“We will also be focusing on investing in staff training to help progress our people and grow the business even more.”

Business development manager Lucy Allsebrook said:
“We’ve outgrown our offices already and we are looking to move into new, bigger offices on the estate in January.
“This will allow us to take on new staff and grow even more.”
