Quality Supervisor gets own exhibition

By day, Chris Haworth of Ramsbottom is a Quality Supervisor at the Exide Technologies battery manufacturing plant at Bolton, but in his spare time, he's a dab hand with the brush...or pen! Thirteen years ago, Chris decided that being a drummer in rock band 'Company of Strangers' was taking too much of a toll on his family life, so he took up painting as an outlet for his creative talents. Without so much as a night-school class under his belt, he has now achieved his own exhibition at the Wensley Gallery, Ramsbottom.

Chris's passion is for landscapes, which he 'feeds' by travelling widely, or if not possible, by using reference photography. Not only are the mediums he uses varied – from watercolours, acrylic and ink – but his styles range from traditional to impressionist – as well as the occasional sketch.

Chris comments, "As a Quality Supervisor for the country's largest traction battery manufacturer, you have to look at processes in a very analytical manner. When I paint, it's not a dissimilar process, I have to look for what is actually there, rather than what I think is there."
