Ontex UK Ltd, a manufacturer of hygienic disposables, has agreed a new three-year contract with RCS Logistics for warehousing, logistics and home delivery services.
Ontex is a European market leader in hygienic disposables for the private label sector. The company offers a wide range of products for babycare (nappies and wipes) and feminine care (sanitary towels and tampons) and prescription healthcare products through the company's healthcare division.
Ontex UK has been working with RCS Logistics for more than 10 years. The new three-year contract was signed in September 2010. RCS will provide home delivery services for the North of England from its recently-opened depot in Wakefield. RCS is responsible for home deliveries to most regions of England, including Derbyshire, Essex, London, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and East Riding.

Located in the heart of the UK's logistics transport network, RCS Logistics provides distribution, logistics, transport and haulage solutions across the UK mainland and Europe. Services provided include same-day courier services, full 3PL, single pallet collection and delivery, as well as warehouse storage, including secure, dry bonded warehousing.
Darren Beaty, Operations Director at RCS Logistics comments: "The new contract with Ontex demonstrates RCS' ability to provide a consistently high quality of service to its customers over a number of years. For Ontex, we typically provide around 1,200 deliveries each day using dedicated drivers and vans. We are consistently achieving service levels of around 99.7 per cent for Ontex."
Incoming bulk product from Ontex is stored in RCS' 16,500 square foot warehouse in Corby. Using an EDI link to Ontex's order system, RCS warehouse operatives then pick and label products according to strict instructions from Ontex. These products are then loaded onto vans ready for home deliveries. Deliveries are provided to four types of end customer: direct to an NHS patient's home, to hospitals, care homes or doctors' surgeries. For these services, RCS has a fleet of 25 dedicated vans that operate five days per week.
