Recycler turns again to Bobcat Compact Loaders for MRF

Ideal Waste Paper Co Ltd (IWP), one of the largest independent processors of recyclable material in the UK, has purchased three new Bobcat S510 skid-steer loaders for use in the company's materials recycling facility (MRF) in Swanley in Kent in the UK, which recycles over 250,000 tonne of paper, cans, plastics and glass every year.

The new S510 skid-steer loaders have been supplied by Bobcat of London, based at Grays in Essex, the Authorised Bobcat Dealer for London, Essex, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Hertfordshire and Middlesex. The compact nature and small turning circles of the new Bobcat 500 platform loaders ensure they are an excellent complement to the larger wheel loaders working at the Swanley plant.

Simon Scott, Director of IWP, said: "We have tried a number of brands of skid-steer loader over the years but I'm very glad to be using the Bobcat machines again. We have always found that they are by far the most durable and the only ones that are truly up to the job. Each of the new S510 machines is equipped with Bobcat industrial fork and grapple attachments to carry out our intensive sorting and handling work."

All the discharging, baling and loading work at IWP is carried out under cover. This safeguards the environment, protects the materials being recycled, and provides a clean comfortable working environment for the company's employees. It also allows uninterrupted processing of waste in all weathers, utilising IWP's two balers and Hogger system.

Wastepaper and other recyclable materials are delivered throughout the day on IWP's own fleet of vehicles including bulk container lorries and specialist waste recycling vehicles. The S510 skid-steer loaders work alongside the wheel loaders at Swanley to sort, grade and bale the various different type of waste material for customers.

Simon Scott added: "The Bobcat S510 loaders work 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week, unloading and sorting wastepaper and other materials continuously. The design of Bobcat compact loaders enables them to work indoors in high temperatures in this arduous application."

The S510 skid-steer loader is the smallest model in the new family of 500 platform compact loaders launched by Bobcat earlier this year, offering overall performance and cycle times up by around 16% on previous models.

Like all compact loaders from Bobcat, the new S510 skid-steer loader provides operators with enhanced comfort and easier serviceability to maximise work efficiency. Powered by the Kubota V2203 4 cylinder diesel engine providing 36.4 kW of power at 2800 RPM, the S510 model has a rated operating capacity of 810 kg and a tipping load of 1619 kg.

From its headquarters in Swanley, IWP is ideally situated to service both local authority and commercial enterprises throughout London and the Home Counties. IWP has forged partnerships with enterprises ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to blue chip organisations in printing, retail, local government and in the public sector.

IWP adheres to a robust quality management system that is compliant to the international quality standards ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. This enables the company to deliver secure and environmentally friendly 'end to end' solutions for controlled quality waste disposal.
