Recyclers ramp it up with Thorworld

Eurokey Recycling Ltd has solved the problem of having no loading bays by using yardramps from Thorworld Industries to load containers.

The Leicester-based plastics recycler takes in large quantities of waste each week. Some of it is granulated, but most is baled before being shipped to export markets in the Far East.

Its two 10,000 kg capacity Thorworld yardramps are fixed to the ground next to one another in the despatch area. 3.5 ton JCB Teletrucks drive up the ramps with either a bale or one ton sack of granulated material and load them inside the container

A spokesman for Eurokey said the Thorworld ramps have the advantage of featuring hand-operated hydraulic pumps. This allows them to be finely adjusted and raised to the required height for use with every size and type of container vehicle.

Thorworld's rugged yardramps, ideal for the fast loading and unloading of vehicle trailers and containers, are increasingly popular with recyclers and other industries who do not have suitable loading docks.

They are available with a steel superstructure in either 7,000, 10,000, 12,000 or 15,000 kg capacities

Manufactured to the highest quality, with solid beam construction and hydraulically operated down to 890mm, they have a serrated open grid deck for positive traction in all weather conditions.

Paper recycling specialist, Casepak (Midlands) Ltd, also uses two Thorworld yardramps to load containers at its Leicester sorting station. One has a 10,000 kg capacity and the other a 15,000 kg capacity. They are located side-by-side in an outdoor despatch area.

Casepak had the smaller capacity model before adding the larger version so that its 7.5 ton fork lift trucks could lift heavier loads and speed up container loading.

The fork lifts are fitted with a special clamp attachment. They pick up two paper bales at a time, driving up the ramps to place them inside the containers.

Thorworld yardramps come with a unique built-in tow bar, which does not have to be removed, for towing by fork lift. This makes them highly mobile and easily moved around a site if required. They fully meet the latest European quality and safety standards and carry the CE mark.

They can be purchased or rented, on a sale or return basis, through Thorworld's specialist RentARamp operation.

Thorworld provides a one-stop, single source for a wide range of high quality loading & unloading equipment and loading bay accessories & safety aids, such as: dock shelters & seals, dock levellers, dock plates & boards, dock & vehicle bumpers and modular loading docks, together with the provision of mobile yardramps, including a new low cost Economy model, as well as the Truckloada mobile yardlift and the Dockloada scissor lift platform.

The company is firmly established as a leading supplier to the loading bay and materials handling sectors, with numerous prestigious customers throughout the UK and mainland Europe in distribution, logistics, transport, retailing, food, drink, manufacturing, recycling and the service industries.
