Savanna launch new reward scheme to tackle LGV driver shortfall

Driver recruitment and training specialists Savanna Staff Solutions, have announced the launch of a new reward programme for LGV drivers which offers greater earning potential and a path to career progression, as well as a consistent work schedule.

This programme comes at a critical time in the transport and logistics industry, which is suffering from a severe driver shortage and a predicted shortfall of 150,000 drivers by 2020. Savanna hope that by offering an incentivised reward programme, drivers will be encouraged to remain in the industry, addressing the common complaints of poor pay, long hours and lack of training opportunities.

The unique My Savanna Family programme offers drivers the opportunity to progress from ‘Colleague’ status to ‘Family Member’, gaining access as they do so to subsidised and free training, secured hours and preferential pay rates. In return, Savanna require availability, punctuality, good standards of customer care, and a commitment to helping Savanna grow – demonstrating the company’s partnership ethos between driver, Savanna and the customer.

The cost of achieving your Class 1 or 2 licence and then maintaining the CPC vocational requirements is high, the hours are often unsociable and haulage in general attracts a stigma which often deters the younger generation.
