J O’Doherty Haulage is gaining a competitive advantage with the introduction of a new Terex Finlay J-1170AS jaw crusher at its North London based recycling facility.
The new machine, supplied by Finlay Plant South East is being used to produce Type 1 recycled aggregate.
With a detachable on-board sizing screen box fitted, the J-1170AS is producing the material as a single unit, replacing the need for a crusher and screener, which were previously used to produce the material.
James O’Doherty, owner of J O’Doherty Haulage, said: “The new machine is performing well.
“It’s bringing a range of benefits that are supporting the business. The main positive is the fact that one machine is doing the work of two, but the additional features, including less noise, dust and fuel consumption, also really add up.”
“We also continue to benefit from the service and support of Finlay Plant South East, who we have a long-standing partnership with.”
Founded in 1987, by James O’Doherty, originally from County Clare, J O’Doherty Haulage has gone from strength to strength since it started out as a single owner driver business.
Today it specialises in all aspects of haulage, waste transfer and recycling, as well as skip and plant hire.
It focuses on quality, careful management, and environmental protection – with high levels of customer service – and a commitment to the latest technology to deliver recycled products.
James also has a demolition division, Embassy, which operates across London and provides material to produce recycled aggregate.
Designed to provide the flexibility of a crushing and screening plant in one machine, at the heart of the plant is a robust hydrostatically driven Terex jaw chamber, which provides high capacity with large reduction ratios.
The jaw chamber configuration can be set up specifically for quarrying applications or processing construction demolition debris using the hydraulic release chamber option.
The J-1170AS also features a heavy duty variable speed VGF and integrated prescreen giving excellent production throughput.
The J-1170AS is the fourth crusher introduced to the J O’Doherty fleet by Finlay Plant South East.
It joins Terex Finlay screeners provided over the years including three 883s and one 694.
Leon Sheehy, managing director of Finlay Plant South East, said: “This is a superb machine, which is really proving its worth on site.”
