Supply chain solutions provider SBS Worldwide has launched three new direct consolidation services with weekly departures from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Shanghai to New York.
The SBS simplified consolidation services have been designed to meet the needs of customers for transparent pricing and fixed-weekly sailings with reliable transit times.
SBS Worldwide Group Chairman Steve Walker said: "Most weekly consolidation services from China to the U.S. tranship via Hong Kong.
"By offering our customers consolidation services directly from Shenzhen and Shanghai directly to New York we are able to remove a transport leg, which reduces lead times and makes the service more cost efficient.
"The fact a transport leg has been removed also increases the reliability of service as the risk of goods being delayed in transit are lessened."
The new services also reduce the risk of cargo being damaged during transport as product is only handled once at origin, compared with services that tranship via Hong Kong where cargo needs to be re-loaded.
These benefits come on top of the savings already offered by SBS's existing consolidation services that combine smaller shipments of multiple customers into one container.
On top of its existing consolidation and full container services and these new launches, SBS Worldwide is also examining the possibility of launching other new direct consolidation services from China to the US in the future.
Stay tuned for the launch of more direct consolidation services that will compliment SBS's existing operation from these key areas of Asia to its hubs in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
