Schuco International KG are market leaders in the production of architectural aluminium building systems for the UK and European markets. The headquarters of the UK operation in Milton Keynes needed a fast and reliable wrapping system for their painted extrusions. They consider pack protection and security of paramount importance to ensure products reach installers in first class condition. Enquiries in the powder coating trade led to the door of Aetna UK, manufacturers of the Robopac range of spiral stretch wrapping machines.
The Robopac Spiror HP range is available with a variety of ring sizes from 300mm to 900mm diameter. The 400HP was selected as it is fully equipped to handle a wide range of cross sections, without operator adjustment. At full speed the machine wraps at 40 metres per minute with a maximum pack size of 300mm wide by 200mm high, which is ideal for the aluminium extrusion market.
To ensure the products leave in as good as condition as they arrive, the rollers are covered in polyurethane, which provides a very high degree of wear resistance and also eliminates any possibility of marking the product as it passes through to wrap head.
Aetna says that the Spiror 400HP can run with 250mm wide film which means that reel changes are less frequent and film is cheaper than narrower widths.
Schuco International KG said they chose Aetna not just because of the robustness and reliability of the Robopac Spiror 400HP but also the level of the technical support and guidance offered from their expert technical consultants, particularly during the learning period when operator error is frequent
Looking to the future, Aetna see an increasing demand for horizontal stretch wrapping and interest is growing in the larger sector where several of the larger systems have been installed over the past year and demand for the smaller ones remains buoyant.
