The leading industrial supplies organisation, Scott Group, is backing a Pan-European campaign to promote timber as the raw material choice for pallets and packaging.
The 'Packaging from Nature' campaign, launched by The European Federation of Wooden Pallets and Packaging manufacturers (FEFPEB) will communicate the economic and environmental benefits of timber use in packaging and pallets, particularly compared with alternative materials such as plastics.
Norman Scott, Group Operations Director, said: "We are Europe's largest producer of new and re-conditioned pallets producing over 350,000 new and 150,000 re-conditioned pallets a week so fully understand the environmental, and economic benefits of using timber. We are keen to demonstrate our commitment to supporting this campaign, which highlights the benefits of using timber over alternative non-biodegradable materials."
"The Scott Group is fully dedicated to operating in a sustainable manner and endorses sustainable practices throughout the business. From sourcing our timber from forests accredited to standards such as the Forest Stewardship council (FSC) and the Programme for endorsement of forest certification schemes (PEFC), to launching our own unique pallet recovery service, we are committed to promoting the benefits to our customers."
Scott Group customers can access a website specifically set up for the campaign, www.packagingfromnature.com, and download information sheets about the benefits of timber for the environment and key facts and figures about timber use.
The Scott Group has grown considerably over the past 20 years through numerous strategic acquisitions and organic growth across the UK and in to Europe to become the UK's market leading and largest pallet supplier, the fastest growing packaging provider and a leading supplier of essential trade supplies such as tools, work wear and corporate clothing. Earlier this year, the Group also launched a commercial insurance service under the Scott Direct brand.
