Scott Group partners with University of Nottingham at Ecobuild 2012

The leading industrial supplies organisation, Scott Group, has partnered with the University of Nottingham to sponsor its 'Shipping Shelter' exhibit, which will be on show at Ecobuild 2012, the world's biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, held at the ExCel arena in London from 20th to 22nd March 2012.

The shipping shelter called the "Fleeting Retreat", is one of the special attractions at the exhibition and was designed by 2nd year architecture students. It is a bespoke modular pavilion, made from re-usable timber shipping pallets that were specially designed and manufactured by Scott Group. The exhibit on display at stand S1350 is dedicated to the sustainable use of pallets in the construction industry supply chain and will provide a space for visitors to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of the event.

Guillermo Guzman Dumont, Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Nottingham said: "Realisation of the project was only made possible thanks to the generous support of Scott Group. As Europe's largest supplier of new and reconditioned pallets, we approached Scott Group to officially sponsor the 'Fleeting Retreat'; Scott Pallets designed and manufactured the appropriate specification of pallet and the unique branded shirts worn by the students during the exhibition have been provided by Scott Direct, a leading specialist in PPE and corporate work-wear".

Leading the project for Scott Group, Michael Noble, Managing Director at Scott ELM, the division responsible for the pioneering pallet recovery service in the construction products supply chain, said: "The partnership between the Nottingham architects and Scott Group, highlights an exciting an innovative way to demonstrate an alternative to disposing of pallets to landfill. The project raises awareness that pallets have inherent value as an item of reusable transit packaging and by dismantling or disposing of them, the energy of construction is lost which is bad for the industry's carbon footprint."

"We are delighted to support the students and the University on this exciting project. This year we celebrate 25 years in business and have been a partner to the construction industry throughout that time. Our sponsorship of this project highlights our commitment to the sector and to the sustainable application of pallets and transit packaging in the supply-chain."

This year Ecobuild is expected to be the biggest and best yet, and Scott Group is looking forward to welcoming visitors along to stand N1560, where information on the Group's diverse range of products and services will be available from representatives of each of the businesses.
