Strapping equipment supplier Mosca Direct Ltd recently welcomed Timo Mosca, Mosca’s global CEO and second generation owner, on a visit to the UK. During his visit, Mr Mosca took part in finalising a new deal for a second Mosca KCT pallet press with an existing customer – leading corrugated material manufacturer TRM Packaging.
Burscough based TRM played host to Timo Mosca along with Sales Director for Machine Exports Mosca GmbH, Klaus Muench and members of Mosca Direct’s senior management team; Managing Director, Gaye Tate, Sales Director, Nick Booth, Engineering & Operations Director, Julie Walton and Business Development Manager, David Shepherd.
The Mosca KCT pallet press is part of Mosca’s automated strapping machine portfolio and based on a modular design to fit easily into existing lines or as part of a new project. It is capable of speeds up to 120 pallets/hour applying two parallel straps, or up to 65 pallets/hour for four-way cross-strapping. This is the second Mosca KCT purchased by TRM and the company is supplied exclusively by Mosca for all its strapping requirements as part of a continuing growth strategy.
Mike Introna, Production Director for TRM Packaging Ltd, who has been directly involved in over £25m worth of spend on new machinery over the past few years, states that the Mosca KCT is, “Pound for pound one of the best bits of equipment I have purchased. We are so pleased with the product we have just ordered a second machine at a very fair price and did not consider an alternative.”
TRM’s CEO, Trevor Maund, bought the company from administrators and after a relatively short amount of time, turned the business around, doubling its yearly turnover and increasing the number of employees from 130 to 230.
With the backing of the North West Development Agency and HSBC to help fund the redevelopment, the business was able to upgrade the plant and grow to the £38m turnover it generates today.
As the company grows, it continues to invest in new equipment and talent, announcing a further £8m investment in business growth in June 2014. Upgrading machinery demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering the very best quality products to both existing and potential customers.
Mike Introna cannot speak highly enough of Mosca, its strapping machines and the service provided across all business areas: “We have had our first Mosca pallet strapper for over three years now and it has been fantastic! It was installed quickly, without fuss or delay and it has been totally reliable. By their very nature, strapping machines can be temperamental and need lots of TLC to get the best out of them, but this Mosca just keeps running! In those 3 years we have only had to call the service team out once and if I remember correctly, we had a service engineer on site within an hour.”
He continues, “The service department have been a revelation! They are efficient, prompt and give you confidence in the product from day one. The whole Mosca team are very competent throughout the whole organisation; from the refreshing leadership of the UK operation to the friendly admin staff in Nottinghamshire and the knowledgeable work done on our behalf by the sales representative. We couldn’t be happier.”
During the visit to TRM, the Mosca team were given a guided tour of the impressive facility and witnessed first-hand why the strapping system plays such an important role in the smooth running of production at the plant.
David Shepherd commented on the visit: “It’s a great opportunity to be able to show our CEO a high-end customer in the UK. We have a significant focus and specialism within the corrugated industry and TRM is an excellent example of a successful working relationship in this sector.”
Based in Cotgrave, Nottingham, Mosca Direct is the UK subsidiary of Mosca GmbH, providing full localised service and support for Mosca’s vast range of German-manufactured automatic, semi-automatic and fully automated strapping machines.
