Renowned dessert manufacturer C D T Sidoli (Welshpool) Ltd has been a long term user of the Seven Telematics’ TranScan 2 data logging system for many years, using paper records. However for its latest fleet of 13.4m refrigerated trailers, the Welshpool-based company has now also specified Seven’s Cool Track remote temperature system as standard fitment on all the dual compartment trailers.
Explaining the rationale behind the move to Cool Track, Sidoli’s logistics manager, Andrew Dodd said, “We previously operated a simple vehicle tracking system on our tractor units and trailers but today the marketplace is changing so fast and we needed to uprate the fleet. We have experienced a definite requirement for more detailed temperature tracking on our fleet, as many of customers are now auditing all aspects of the cold chain, from our manufacturing processes through to our transport and logistics operations.”
Located in mid Wales, C D T Sidoli (Welshpool) Ltd is a family owned and run manufacturer of artisan desserts for the food service industry, originally established over 65 years ago. The Welshpool company currently operates a 7-strong fleet of tractor units and refrigerated multi-compartment trailers, together with a 7.5t rigid truck and two MWB vans. The all refrigerated fleet is now 100% fitted with Seven Telematics’ TranScan 2 and Cool Track systems giving Sidoli access to live and retrospective data, as and when it is required by its customers for traceability.
“When originally specifying the new Chereau trailers, we also spoke to Seven Telematics who impressed us with a detailed insight into the overall product capability of the Cool Track system. We felt that Cool Track would be easy to operate in our fleet, whilst also giving us the vitally important 24/7 coverage of our trailers wherever they are located in the UK,” commented Andrew Dodd.
Andrew continues, “Now in full operation in the fleet, we are extremely pleased with the performance of Cool Track. Wherever our transport staff are located, we get text and email alerts if there is an issue, which we can then follow up and action accordingly. The addition of the remote temperature monitoring system has also made a strong impression on our customers, giving them increased confidence in our products as well as the load security and integrity of their order throughout the temperature chain, from manufacturing through to our final distributors.”
