Delegates at this year's Recycling and Waste Management show can find out how joining up procurement and waste management processes can help organisations achieve waste reduction goals, by attending the Severnside Recycling seminar in the Business Seminar Theatre on Thursday 16th September at 11:15am (RWM, 14-16 September, NEC Birmingham).
The recent announcement of the new government's plans for a review of waste policy in the UK has and brought an increased focus on commercial waste and has strengthened the pledge to work towards the creation of a zero-waste economy. In the seminar, Severnside's national commercial manager, Tim Price, and leading packaging manufacturer DS Smith's Terry Morgan, will look at how waste management professionals can support product design and procurement teams and will also highlight the pinch points and packaging decisions that can prove challenging for recyclers.
The seminar will bring together the expertise of the Severnside and DS Smith partnership to advise on practical solutions in integrating packaging and sustainable waste management. Severnside is part of the DS Smith Group, along with St Regis Paper Company and together are able to offer a unique UK closed loop recycling solution for paper, packaging and cardboard.
"The retail sector continues to find itself under the spotlight when it comes to waste. Our expertise in both retail waste and packaging solutions means we can help retailers exploit further packaging savings through bringing together very opposite stages in the process to make recyclable packaging a key strand for procurement and design teams," says Price.
"To be truly sustainable we have to turn the traditional way of working on its head - and bringing together waste management and product design professionals is the key to long term sustainability for both retailers and the consumer. The benefits of this approach will be felt throughout the supply chain."
Visitors can also learn more about Severnside's integrated waste management solutions, which include a closed loop approach for paper and cardboard through their parent company, DS Smith Group.
Severnside will also showcase its cost-saving audit services and solutions for all materials including plastics, organics, metal, construction and demolition, WEEE and any other residuals at stand 1170.
