Simarco international freight and logistics first business to back Sponsor a Roundabout campaign

Simarco International Ltd has become the first business to back a campaign to improve the appearance of its local area.

The Witham-based logistics company is the first official sponsor of the 'Sponsor a Roundabout' initiative being run by Braintree District Council.

The initiative aims to enhance the appearance of roads and roundabouts in the Braintree district while promoting local businesses.

Simarco - which is a member of Palletforce, the UK's leading palletised distribution network - now has a sign displaying the company logo on a busy Braintree roundabout beside the A120.

"Simarco is delighted to be part of the roundabout sponsorship. As a large employer in the local area, it's a great opportunity to get our name out there and help raise standards on the roads in the Braintree and Witham area," said Simarco Managing Director Simon Reed.

Braintree District Council signed up to the initiative - launched last year by Essex County Council - and will carry out grass cutting, shrub pruning and general maintenance on the sponsored roundabouts.

Simon Evans, of Immediate Solutions, the company which promotes the project and is acting as the agent for the district council, said: "This initiative will allow a variety of local businesses, whether large or small, the opportunity to promote themselves in a very high profile and unique way."

Cllr Chris Siddall, Deputy Cabinet Member on Braintree District Council for the Green Heart of Essex, said: "Making the best possible use of our resources whilst supporting local businesses and helping the highways to look more attractive has got to be a good thing.

"Revenue received from our sponsors will enable us to ensure we can continue to keep the roundabouts neat and tidy."
