SITL Real Time 2007 to focus on new logistics markets

The SITL Real Time trade show will be held in Paris from 27 to 29 March 2007. The main theme of the event will be New markets for logistics. There will be 350 exhibitors and 15,000 trade visitors visiting 19,500m² of exhibits.

During the trade show, special emphasis will be given to the five fields at the heart of this constantly changing market. These five fields - e-commerce logistics, reverse logistics, traceability, rail freight and waterways - will be featured throughout the event, in the exhibition, in the plenary and thematic conferences, in speeches from VIPs from both the private and public sectors and, finally, during the 8th Innovation Prize ceremony, which will include an e-commerce logistics section.

Almost 350 exhibitors, 22% of them from outside France, will be equally divided between the three sectors of activities represented at the trade fair: transport and logistic services, as well as transport and logistics equipment; management and information systems and technologies; and logistics infrastructures, regions, sites and installations. Organisers expect 15,000 trade visitors to attend the event.

Transport and logistics services will be heavily represented with the presence of the 10 largest groups in the sector, including Kuehne + Nagel, Norbert Dentressangle Groupe, ID Logistics and Transalliance. There will also be an increased presence of companies in the rail sector, with Véolia Cargo in particular. Waterways, a subject at the heart of the trade fair, are represented with the return of Voies Navigables de France. The logistics installations sector will be there in force, with all the main players present - GSE, Prologis and Eiffage. There will also be new exhibitors, such as Parkridge. Finally, in the field of technology and information systems, many companies concerned with the problems of traceability and RFID will be attending.

The inaugural plenary conference will take place on Tuesday 27 March at 10:00 am and will bring together French and other European political figures to discuss the emergence of new markets for logistics as well as the responses that should be made in terms of services and supplies.

Wednesday 28 March will start with a second plenary conference on the issues of e-commerce logistics. This is a rapidly growing sector (+53 % in 2005), the success of which largely depends on the quality of logistics, a real differentiating factor for e-commerce sites.

Finally, the third plenary conference, on Thursday 29 March at 10:00am, will be dedicated to rail freight and the consequences of the opening of the market to new and increasingly competitive operators. Rail is undergoing a renaissance by positioning itself as an alternative to road transport, which is an increasingly credible proposition in view of the increased prices of petrol products as well as environmental concerns. In addition, 15 thematic conferences, related to the event's five underlying themes, will take place over the three days. All the conferences, both plenary and thematic, will take place in a television studio.

The highlight of the trade fair's first day and the whole trade fair will be the awards ceremony for the Innovation Prizes, which will take place in the TV studio on 27 March at 6:00pm. These prizes, which are recognised by the whole of the profession, reward an innovative technological solution or service. In 2007, they will be split in the following way: three traditional awards will reward the most relevant innovation in the three fields corresponding to the fair's division by sectors - transport and logistics services; technologies and information systems; and logistics properties and facilities.

Three special prizes will also be awarded on this occasion: for the third time, the sustainable development award, in partnership with the Ademe; for the second time, the human resources award, in partnership with Hays logistics and the Fondation pour la Logistique (Logistics Foundation); and, for the first time this year, the e-commerce logistics award.

Once again this year, SITL Real Time will host the Logistics Conventions of large industrial and trading groups who use the event to bring together their national and international teams in order to report on the logistics activities of their companies and subsidiaries.
