International supply-chain solution company Gist Limited has received a cool new order of 16 DAF XF105 tractor units to support the company’s refrigeration network in Scotland. The firm, who purchased the vehicles through local dealer Taunton DAF, have added them to their existing fleet of more than 1500 powered vehicles that operate throughout the UK and Europe daily.
All of the units feature the powerful 460hp 12.9-litre PACCAR Euro 5 engine, which is mated to DAF’s 12-speed AS-Tronic automated gearbox. With the ability to achieve 150,000km between service intervals, this powertrain boasts exceptional performance at the lowest operating cost. Each of the tractor units feature DAF’s 6X2 twin-steer wheel arrangement aiding manoeuvrability when delivering goods to areas and warehouses with limited access.
Sam de Beaux, Engineering Director at Gist, said, "Gist has over 40 years of experience in supply chain solutions in both the UK and globally to a variety of Blue Chip companies. Our trust in DAF products is extremely strong and trucks such as the XF105 provide our drivers with a comfortable but business-like space from which to work. Taunton DAF has been both professional and helpful throughout the purchasing process".
To ensure the utmost driver comfort for longer European journeys, Gist has specified that each vehicle is fitted with Super Space cabs. This option increases the height of the cab by 370mm and provides additional room for bunk beds.
Gist purchased their order of XF105s from Taunton DAF. Rob Walker of Taunton DAF said, "We are pleased to supply Gist with their new vehicles and maintain our partnership with them."
The vehicles will primarily operate from Gist’s recently acquired Bellshill location and will largely deliver refrigerated goods throughout the UK and France.
