Slingsby safety ladders and storage join with HSE to promote Ladder Exchange Initiative

WORKPLACE equipment supplier Slingsby has joined forces with the Health & Safety Executive to part exchange unsafe and damaged ladders for brand new ones.

As part of 'The Ladder Exchange Initiative', both commercial and domestic customers can make huge savings on Slingsby's extensive range of ladders and access solutions until the end of November 2010.

Lee Wright, Marketing Director of Slingsby, explains: "Old and damaged ladders are one of the biggest causes of fatal accidents in the workplace which is why we have decided to offer this scheme for the third year running. During this time we have seen some truly horrific ladders with a wide range of faults including bent sides, missing rungs and loose nuts that made them completely unstable.

"When you consider that many of these ladders are typical of what's in use on a regular basis, it's easy to see how 4000 employees suffered major injuries during 2008/09 as a result of falling from heights. Anyone taking a chance with a faulty ladder is risking their life and we hope that this scheme will continue to encourage people to put safety first and get rid of unsafe ladders."
