Smurfit Kappa appoints Chris Collier as new Managing Director at Smurfit Kappa Recycling UK

Smurfit Kappa has announced the appointment of Chris Collier as managing director of Smurfit Kappa Recycling UK. He reports to Leon Graff who will be devoting a greater proportion of his time to the integration of Reparco paper and the European Recycling business.

Chris Collier joins from Veolia, where he was most recently general manager, municipal, with responsibility for the company’s local authority contracts in the East region. His 30-year career in the recycling sector includes nineteen years at SCA Recycling, where he rose to the position of operations and commercial director. His extensive leadership experience also includes spells with Nordic Recycling, CK Group and Andusia Recovered Fuels.

“I am delighted that Chris has joined us as managing director of Smurfit Kappa Recycling UK,” said Leon Graff of Smurfit Kappa. “His many years of experience in the recycling business and acknowledged expertise as a business leader in the sector adds further strength to our team.”

The Group paper mills in Birmingham and Kent reprocess 500,000 tonnes of material per annum, providing a reliable market for recovered paper and card. This enables Smurfit Kappa UK to collect and recycle as much paper based packaging as it produces. Smurfit Kappa Recycling UK operates nationwide and has depots at the following locations: Birmingham, Snodland, Tamworth, Nottingham, Blackburn, and Glasgow.
