Following the successful use of Stertil Koni commercial vehicle lifts for a number of years, Via East Midlands Limited has recently purchased another 12 tonne capacity 4-post lift to support maintenance and servicing operations at its Bilsthorpe depot.

As an approved MOT test station, the fully equipped workshop at Bilsthorpe is responsible for routine maintenance, servicing and MOT preparation on a mixed fleet of vehicles including pick-up trucks, minibuses, HGV tipper trucks, low floor buses and specialised highways operation vehicles. The workshop operates a full daily shift, five days a week utilising its four Stertil Koni lifts virtually non-stop.

The four Stertil Koni lifts include two ST4120 4-post lifts and two ST4070 4-post lifts. Offering respective safe lifting capacities of 12 and seven tonnes, these heavy duty models feature a low-maintenance electro-hydraulic lifting system and are both rapid and quiet in operation. The ST4120 is available with a range of platform lengths up to eight metres and the space between the platforms is adjustable from 800mm up to 1650mm. This flexibility makes it an ideal 4-post lift for workshops that deal with a wide range of heavy duty vehicles.

Four driven rams are located at the corner posts of the lift and all are electronically synchronised to ensure safe and smooth operation. The free-standing control box can be positioned at the most convenient post for each particular installation and a full range of accessories is available.

Providing a low drive-on height of 160mm, the ST4070 is ideal for lifting a range of vehicles including vans, trucks and sweepers. Its 2030mm lifting height makes it comfortable to work under and, with no raised edges on the tracks, maximum accessibility to vehicles is guaranteed. The ST4070 vehicle lift is equipped with an adjustable descent speed as standard so that the removal of an engine or gearbox is a lot safer and easier.

Stertil Koni has also supplied a range of ancillary equipment to augment the lifts’ operations including jacking beams, lighting and air kits.

“Our existing Stertil Koni lifts have been so reliable in a sometimes hectic working environment that we had no hesitation in purchasing the latest ST4120 4-post lift,” says Dave Shaw, Workshop Operations Manager at the Bilsthorpe Depot. “Our workshop engineers are also very pleased with the lifts which are fast and smooth in operation and provide unobstructed access to raised vehicles at a comfortable working height.”
