Value added opportunities and the reliability that the latest game-changing printing technology offers will be the theme of SUN Automation Group’s® presentation at Digital Print for Packaging EU 2014 conference in London on December 10-11.
The company, a worldwide leader in the supply of corrugated equipment which recently launched its pioneering CorrStream® technology, will be highlighting the practical uses and applications of cutting-edge, single pass digital printing at the two-day conference for an invited audience of packaging professionals, users and brand owners.
Digital printing is providing corrugated packaging convertors new opportunity in offering the supply chains transit packaging, multi-functional, colourful, Shelf-Ready Packaging (SRP) and FSDU printed solutions. SUN Automation’s Global Product Manager, Sean Moloney, sees the conference as an ideal opportunity to also showcase the other benefits that the new print-on-demand technology brings, specifically for the printer convertor and consequently their customers.
He said: “The main points we will be addressing are the core benefits that single pass digital printing offers corrugated plants such as shorter lead times, reduced time to market, lower inventory costs and reduced transport costs. Significant opportunity exists for increased print uptime and hence output levels matching conventional print equipment but at lower costs. We are able to demonstrate opportunity to reduce the cost of printing the box as well as adding value through print.”
CorrStream’s® series of printers – 66, 40 and 20 – offers the corrugated converting sector unrivalled speed, efficiency and outstanding print quality, bringing inkjet sophistication to mainstream applications as a real alternative to conventional flexo methods.
As well as the key ability to ease the pressure on box makers’ operating costs at the increasingly common low batch levels box plants face, compared to flexographic printing, CorrStream® allows for increased value added through customisation, marketing, branding through high quality colour and barcodes.
In addition, further opportunities exist for corrugated to align with the now established digitalisation of other packaging media to provide solutions for brand owner/retailer seasonal or event-based on-shelf promotions that require, for example, short-run or variable print capabilities. On-shelf corrugated represents significant advertising and call to action space that is currently under-utilized.
Digital Print for Packaging 2014 is the ideal platform for SUN Automation to get its message across that the corrugated industry needs to react and become yet more flexible in offering even greater variety in print to aid sales in an ever more sophisticated consumer space.
Mr. Moloney concludes: “Interest from marketers, brand owners, retailers and buyers in digital packaging is high. We are confident that the CorrStream® range of digital printers represents reliable and consistent equipment that will deliver the value-added opportunities needed to boost box plants’ selling power.”
The introduction of the CorrStream series of printers is a milestone on corrugated’s journey in ensuring it remains the world’s favourite packaging medium. In 2014 the company launched its European initiative at its Bristol, UK based Print Centre.
