National supply chain specialist Nightfreight has announced the appointment of Ian Smith as Chief Executive Officer, as part of sweeping plans for continued business growth and innovation.
With the support of managing director Peter Louden, and group financial director Ian Horsfall, Ian and the senior team of directors are spearheading the future growth and strategic direction of the company.
This will focus on the company’s nationwide B2B delivery network, as well as driving further innovation into Nightfreight’s ‘Deliver2Home’ nationwide B2C two-man delivery network.
Moreover, the senior team will also look to further enhance the company’s ability to offer innovative hybrid transport solutions, combining shared user, dedicated, and infrastructure assets to a range of clients across the B2B and B2C spectrum.
Together with the senior management team, Ian will lead the company’s transformation programmes in service excellence and profitability.

Since joining Nightfreight in March – firstly as a consultant and then becoming chief operating officer and a member of the Group board of directors – Ian has made a significant contribution across the business, in particular to the ‘white glove’ specialist handling Pacemaker, dedicated logistics and Deliver2Home delivery channels.
Ian brings with him over 20 years’ experience of senior management and board level appointments in third party logistics with some of the world’s leading brands, including Exel Logistics, NYK Logistics, Unipart and Tibbett & Britten.
