SWR has further extended its reach into the hospitality sector, securing the contract to manage all waste at six out of the seven Hillbrooke Hotels locations across the South of England and the Midlands. An important part of the new waste strategy will be to reduce waste costs, while helping the Group to double their recycling performance in the first year.
As a Group, Hillbrooke Hotels were recycling 24 percent of their waste, with two sites doing no recycling at all. SWR will introduce new processes to improve this to nearly 50 percent at each site.
Hillbrooke Hotels Operations Director, Paul Brown, said: "Hillbrooke Hotels has always adopted a strong environmental policy, ensuring that our operations and activities comply with the applicable environmental laws and regulations. We have always tried to use local suppliers where possible, we have installed low energy light bulbs and lighting movement sensors, and work hard to reduce our consumption of fuel, energy and water at every opportunity.
"One area, however, where we knew there was significant room for improvement was in our recycling performance. This is something that we are confident we can dramatically improve upon with the assistance of SWR."
SWR has considerable expertise in developing sustainable waste solutions for the hotel and hospitality industry, designed to both save money and improve the green performance of its customers. They are the only waste management company recommended by the Considerate Hoteliers Association.
SWR CEO, Giles Whiteley, said: "SWR helps many hotels across the UK to manage waste in the most efficient and cost effective way. This often involves looking for innovative solutions to some of the challenges faced by the industry, such as limited space, noise, multiple waste streams, staff engagement, reporting requirements, among many others.
"We are delighted to be working with Hillbrooke Hotels to help them boost recycling at source. An important part of implementing a successful program of waste management and recycling is getting buy in from all staff, ensuring that processes are understood and followed long term. SWR works with hotels to deliver training and communications on site to make sure exactly this happens."
SWR is also helping Hillbrooke Hotels to demonstrate their environmental performance with quarterly reports for each individual hotel, measuring their recycling performance and CO2 saved.
